Welcome to the website of the Austrian Jazz Award! Here you will find comprehensive information about the price. The submission deadline (25.08.2024) for the Austrian Jazz Award has already passed. The Artists Upload for the categories of the award as well as the registration for the Academy are currently closed and will reopen next year. However, the possibility to enter oneself in the directory of jazz-related music projects in Austria since January 2022 remains under ARTISTS UPLOAD.
The winners of the Jazz Award 2024
An 'Academy' of 82 experts has selected a total of 35 nominees in the categories 'Best Newcomer', 'Best Album' and 'Best Live Act' from the more than 200 submissions for the period 2022-2024 by awarding points. On this basis, a jury of six experts from the Austrian and international jazz scene has now selected three winners, who will perform at a gala at Vienna's Porgy & Bess on December 5th and will receive a cash prize and two follow-up concerts each.

The time until the award ceremony on December 5th at Porgy & Bess, which will be broadcast live by Ö1 radio and at which the three award winners will each play a 30-minute concert, will now be used to immerse themselves in the music of the three ensembles and to convey the colorful diversity of the entire scene to the public.

Austria has a highly vibrant jazz and world music scene. To give more public attention to creative musicians, the Austrian Music Council (ÖMR), together with mica-music austria, the Ö1 Jazz editorial team, the IG World Music, and Porgy & Bess were able to achieve a reestablishment of an Austrian Jazz Award.
