Projekt Beschreibung
Véro la Reine, the Queen of Bikutsi, and her international band skillfully blend "Bikutsi" (the traditional music of the Beti people from Cameroon) with contemporary influences from jazz and blues rhythms.
The singer, lyricist, and composer Véro la Reine was born in the southern of Yaoundé , the homeland of the Beti people in Cameroon, and grew up under the musical influence of her mother, who was herself a renowned singer of traditional music.
Bikutsi is music with a history: it was created by the women of the Beti be Nnanga tribe in Cameroon and was practiced exclusively by them.
In her style of Bikutsi music, Véro la Reine combines tradition and modernity, singing in her native language Ewondo, with the goal of bringing "Bikutsi closer to the people."
