PEOPLE. PLACES. is the latest project of Argentine guitarist and composer Martín Iaies, developed in Austria and recorded in Graz with an eleven-piece ensemble, featuring distinguished German saxophonist and clarinetist Klaus Gesing. The album brings together seven original compositions and an arrangement of an Argentine folk zamba, inspired by the people and places that have shaped Iaies’ life and musical journey between Argentina and Austria. Blending contemporary jazz with elements of Argentine and Latin American music, the project explores large-ensemble writing while leaving space for individual voices and improvisation. PEOPLE. PLACES. reflects Iaies’ development into an independent voice as a composer and bandleader within Austria’s jazz scene.
