Projekt Beschreibung

Christoph Cech's history with large-scale orchestral formations in and around jazz spans almost 4 decades. In addition to the Nouvelle Cuisine Big Band, founded together with Christian Mühlbacher, which in 2016 gave a strong sign of life with a performance at Europe's largest jazz festival, the North Sea Jazz Festival in Rotterdam, with Michael Mantler's Jazz Composers Orchestra Update and will be 40 years young in 2025 – this should also be noted – Cech has given numerous workshops and concerts with big bands throughout Europe, led the Euroradio Jazz Orchestra in 2019 with young virtuosos from all over Europe, has maintained an amateur big band in Vienna for 25 years and led the student big band of Linz's Bruckner University, the Think Bigger Orchestra, to astonishing concert highlights for 15 years. In this long time, an almost incalculable abundance of works has developed, a selection of which Christoph Cech has now been recording since 2016 with a jazz orchestra dedicated exclusively to his art, the Christoph Cech Jazz Orchestra Project CC JOP, thus fulfilling a long-cherished wish for himself and his fans. On the path of the orchestra of up to 26 members so far, 3 double CD albums have been released: TITAN (2017), BLUE (2018) and METRIX (2020) and the live recording of the inspiring performance at the Saalfelden Jazz Festival 2022 HEALTHY TREE (2023), which have been excellently reviewed throughout Europe and are an impressive testimony to Cech ́'s masterful handling of large orchestras.
