Projekt Beschreibung
The “Afro Arabiq Walzer Archestra” (AAWA) not only brings Arab, West African and Austrian musical traditions into contact with each other but also creates a musical fusion. Iraqi and Syrian songs, Maghreb Gnawa rhythms, Austrian waltz traditions and free jazz passages are combined into a novel mixture. In this way, a transcultural meeting zone is created that transforms the spirit of Afrofuturism from Sun Ra's “Intergalactic Research Archestra” into a strings & percussion landscape of the 21st century.
