Project Description
Composer, pianist and singer Ingrid Schmoliner develops a distinctive, ecstatic sonic language spanning contemporary, experimental and improvised music, avant-garde, jazz, ambient, folk, minimal music and techno. Her compositions combine formal rigor with physical intensity and a psychoactive, hypnotic pull. She has released, among others, MNEEM (Ventil Records) and I AM ANIMAL (idyllic noise), as well as BREATH IN DEFINITION with DRANK and HAAR with NABELÓSE (both Trost Records). She has also composed music for theatre and film. Her work has received numerous grants from the Austrian federal government, the City of Vienna and the Province of Carinthia. She has performed internationally at festivals and venues including Wien Modern/Jazz Cerkno/ Berlinale/ Wiener Konzerthaus/ Meteo Festival
