Album: Kaiju Project

Bringing Japanese music together with jazz is the idea of ​​the "Kaiju Project", a band that is also the album title here and was founded by the Japanese-Austrian pianist Aseo Friesacher. The band includes bassist Johannes Fend and drummer Joost Lijbaart as well as the two Japanese women Waka Otsu (vocals) and Kana Fuefuki (flutes). Pieces by the pianist, but also traditional Japanese pieces can be heard in music that wonderfully combines western jazz with Far Eastern melodies. In a soulful, sometimes finely grooving, sometimes slightly meditative mélange that successfully bridges two different musical cultures.
