Album: Phönix

After the notable success of the debut album NOW! (3rd place on the 2020 Falter jazz chart), the trio led by austrian tenor saxophonist Swantje Lampert returns with its follow-up release, Phönix. SWANtje is the realization of a dream long held by Swantje Lampert. The trio setting – featuring Karol Hodas on double bass and Christian Eberle on drums – allows the musicians a great deal of freedom within the strongly harmonic and rhythmic framework of Lampert’s compositions. The new album Phönix (Alessa Records, 2023), consists of groovy as well as harmonically interesting original compositions by the band leader, mostly composed in autumn, 2021.
