Album: The Field Organ Project - Stories Against War

The Field Organ Project was born out of a fantasy about a Field Organ, a portable, foldable harmonium that was used by the US Army in Europe for religious purposes during the Second World War. In the 40-minute suite, the instrument is heard in an ensemble of improvising musicians: singer Zvezdana Novakovic comes from Slovenia, keyboardist Stefan Heckel from Austria, bassist Tin Dzaferovic from Croatia and trumpeter Nikola Vukovic from Serbia. Drummer Alex Yannilos and narrator Daniel Doujenis both share Greek roots. The music is juxtaposed with the poetry of Erich Fried, Bertold Brecht and Dylan Thomas. The Field Organ Project brings the instrument back to life after decades and tells "Stories Against War" in a musically poetic way.
