During the observation period, the UAJO performed 16 concerts featuring 5 different programs. These included “Saltchambermusic for Jazz Orchestra,” composed by band members, “Beatles Upside-Down” with Mats Holmquist (also produced in the studio in December), “Jazz Classics and Songs” featuring Ali Gaggl with her compositions, arranged by the UAJO, a program with Ed Piuddick and Mike Gibbs—arrangers of international renown—and a program conceived specifically for the Bad Goisern Big Band Workshop. With “Saltchambermusic,” the UAJO presents the 15th recording in its 33-year history; “Beatles…” is the 16th. A distinctive feature in the development of new programs is the concept of presenting the orchestra’s musicians also as composers and arrangers.
