Andreas Varady, born in Slovakia of Hungarian Gypsy descent, began playing guitar at age four under his father’s guidance. After moving to Ireland, he gained recognition through busking and performances with Irish drummer David Lyttle. His debut album Questions and YouTube presence caught the attention of Quincy Jones, leading to an invitation to perform at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 2013. In 2023, he won the Ö1 Jazz Scholarship in Vienna. Varady’s music, a blend of contemporary and classic jazz, is enriched by collaborations with legends like Quincy Jones and features in his latest project, Sunrise.
