Newcomer: Lukas Meißl

Lukas Meißl (born 1995) studied history, music education, and jazz piano (Bachelor & Master) with Olaf Polziehn at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz. He has worked with the Graz Composers Orchestra and the Graz Philharmonic. Meißl performs across Austria and Europe with his jazz trio, the "OSTstyrian Rhythm Section," the funk band "Candlelight Ficus," and the "Max Kreuzer Octet." In 2022, he won second place at the international jazz competition in Rome. He co-created an interactive humming concert at Styriarte 2024 with Lorenz Maierhofer. He teaches at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz and produces (jazz- and culture) programs for ORF Steiermark.
