Newcomer: Amir Ahmadi

Amir Ahmadi, a composer and pianist born in Ahvaz, Iran, and based in Austria, creates a personal musical language through a unique blend of contemporary classical music, jazz, and traditional influences. Initially trained as a mechanical engineer, he later studied composition and jazz piano in Austria. Microtonality is central to his work, shaped through the Claviton—a microtonal keyboard with 31 keys per octave—and influences from Persian Dastgah and Maqam traditions, especially with his Trio Terrea. As a pianist and keyboardist, he performs at renowned venues and festivals in Austria and abroad with Trio Terrea, Kurdophone, Ulrich Drechsler’s Quintett, PUC, and the Nawa Ensemble. He is also frequently invited as a guest artist at universities.
