While still clearly being a jazz album, the seven new pieces also feature influences from classical music, folklore and new music. And there is also plenty of room for free improvisation. What the participants create from this mix of elements is a warm, playful and at the same time elegant sound that elegant sound that is wonderfully charged with tension in a variety of ways. Sometimes calm and atmospheric, then again with the power of a big band, sometimes straightforward with lots of groove and catchy melodies, then again intricate and rhythmically complex and enriched with sound experiments.
