Album: First Harvest

All nine pieces presented on First Harvest are original compositions by seven different band members. The album shows a cross-section of the VCBB's first two years of creative work. However, it is more than just a collection of individual pieces. In their search for new and modern compositional paths for the traditional large jazz ensemble, the musicians of the VCBB are united by their preference for strong melodies and grooves. The tutti in the powerful big band sound characterize First Harvest just as much as the quiet and melancholy moments. With First Harvest, the VCBB presents itself not only as an ensemble of composers but also as a collective of strong soloists. The album thus showcases the diversity and originality that lies within the VCBB.
