Album: Lukas Meißl´s Great Austrian Songbook

"Schifoan" as a bebop tune at downhill speed, Nestroy's "Die Welt steht auf kein' Fall mehr lang" as a jazz ballad, or Ernest Gold's film music as avant-garde free jazz. Jazz pianist Lukas Meißl achieved this crossover with his trio featuring Max Kreuzer (bass) and Andreas Reisenhofer (drums), along with special guests Ines Reiger (vocals), Christian Bakanic (accordion), and Peter Kunsek (clarinet). The result is the "Great Austrian Songbook"—a bridge between the "Great American Songbook" and 200 years of Austrian popular music. Music inspired by Ambros to Zawinul, reinterpreted, arranged, and newly composed. A humorous, jazz-infused exploration of the "Homo Austriacus," with album artwork by caricaturist Gerhard Haderer.
